Shopping the Sale

Items for sale at the Pigtails & Cowlicks Spring Sale are typically 50-70 percent off of retail prices, so you’ll be able to outfit your kids at a very affordable price. All major credit and debit cards are accepted and Kentucky state sales tax is applied.

Public shopping is open on Friday, March 22 from 8-6 p.m. and on Saturday, March 23 from 8-1 p.m. There is no admission for the public to shop.

Special pre-sales are open to volunteers, consignors, New Moms, Heroes, and Friends of Consignors on Wednesday and Thursday. Visit pigsandcowlicks.com for more information about those special sales.

This year’s sale has reached capacity for consignors, but there are plenty of volunteer opportunities that offer an opportunity to shop the sale early. From hanging flyers to helping checkout customers to helping breakdown at the sale’s conclusion, there is a way for most anyone to donate their time. Learn more about all of the volunteer opportunities at this year’s sale and to offer your time.

While there is no more room for consignors at this year’s sale, you can learn more about how to consign your items online. Maybe you’ll want to participate in 2020.

History

Pigtails & Cowlicks Spring Sale began in 2005 with around 30 consignors in a tiny retail storefront. Over the next 14 years, it grew to host 425 families and moved to the Owensboro Convention Center. The sale is family-run as a ministry to the Owensboro community. Consignors can earn money for their outgrown and gently used children’s items, and when items are unsold, they are donated to the Blessings Closet. Through the Blessings Closet, families that are in-need are given an opportunity to choose children’s items at no cost by way of local non-profit organizations like Friends of Sinners and Shepherd’s Hand Ministry.
